Have you ever had such an experience: you have a work to do, but something else instead – checking your email, browsing social media, reading blogs, watching cute kittens on YouTube, etc?
This is called procrastination. Most people have experienced this at least once in a lifetime. But putting off work all the time can cause serious damage. Follow our tips to overcome procrastination, get back to work, and attain greater results than you could’ve imagined!

Break your work into smaller steps.

If you find your work overwhelming, break it into small parts and concentrate on every step at a time. If you’re still procrastinating, break it down further. Keep on breaking your steps until you get a simple task you can do right now. While working, do you best and don’t think about the next phase. As soon as you’re done, move on.

Create a detailed timeline.

Set deadlines for all the small steps. As a result, you will have a timeframe for each task and an urgency to work on it at this very moment.

Change your environment.

Take a look at your surroundings. If there is anything in your room or on your table that makes your snuggle, make some changes.

Eliminate your distractions.

First of all, determine what exactly makes you procrastinate. If it’s the automatic notification in your email client, turn it off. If it’s social media, close your accounts and stop using them until you’re done. Control your actions while you’re working.

Communicate with people who inspire you.

If you spend only a couple of minutes talking, for example, to Tony Robbins or Brendon Burchard, you’ll feel very motivated. There are people who can inspire us, and they’re not only the well-known life coaches or motivation speakers. See if you have such people around you – your family members, friends, colleagues, etc. Communicate with them to get charged for work when you feel like procrastinating.

Get a buddy.

It’s nice to have a companion with similar goals. Work together, learn from each other, and hold each other accountable for attaining progress. It will motivate both of you to act.

Tell others about your goals.

If you share your goals with your family, friends and colleagues, it’s more likely that you will be motivated to attain them.

Re-clarify your goals.

If you procrastinate because your goals don’t interest you anymore, re-clarify them or set new goals. Take some time away from work (even a weekend break can be helpful) to reflect on what you actually want and create a new plan.

Avoid over-complicating things.

Stop waiting for a perfect time to do something. Believe me, it will never be perfect enough.

Just do it.

Even if you keep on setting goals, planning, and strategizing, it’s possible that you’re still procrastinating. So stop thinking on what to do first and start acting!
